Help Us Grow the Community Energy Revolving Fund!

The Community Energy Revolving Fund (CERF) is a Geelong Sustainability initiative that has helped local not-for-profits access interest-free loans to cover the upfront costs of solar, energy efficient appliances and more—helping to reduce energy costs and emissions. The loan is paid back to the fund from energy bill savings over a five-year period, with all savings after the loan is paid back redirected into the organisation’s local programs.

Can you help us grow the fund and support more local non-profits to take climate action and save on their energy bills?

Federal Election Scorecard Volunteering

Did you know a significant percentage of voters make their decision on election day? This means we have a key opportunity to influence the outcome and ensure climate action is on the top of our community member’s minds when they cast their vote.

We need your help to hand out scorecards developed by the Climate Council ranking the major parties on their climate policies. Volunteer for one or more shifts:

Renew Campaign
Geelong Sustainability is proud to support the Renew Australia for All campaign seeking greater investment in electrification, renewable energy and battery storage for homes.

Have Your Say on the Climate Change Strategy
The Victorian Government is preparing its second Climate Change Strategy, setting the course for reducing emissions and strengthening climate resilience for the next five years.

We have provided a submission to help shape the new strategy. Share your thoughts by completing their survey or making your own submission

Have Your Say on the Waste to Energy Cap
The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) is seeking feedback on an increase to the Waste to Energy Scheme cap limit to 2.5 million tonnes per annum. Any increase is too muchwe want to instead see increased support for waste reduction, reuse, and effective recycling as key first steps in a circular economy.

Geelong Sustainability has provided our submission to oppose this change, and we encourage you to have your say through a submission or complete the survey.

Visit Engage Victoria by 11:59pm on Thursday 17 April.

New Board Members

We're excited to announce the appointment of three new interim members to the Geelong Sustainability Board, including a new Secretary. The recruitment process for the Secretary role attracted an extremely strong response, and through this process, we identified an opportunity to further strengthen our Board by filling critical skills gaps. These appointments are interim roles and will remain in place until the Annual General Meeting later this year.

We look forward to the contributions and expertise that our new members will bring to support our vision and purpose. Please join us in welcoming our new interim Board members!

  • Mariah Chang - Interim Board Member and Board Secretary
  • Steph McDonald - Interim Board Member
  • Dr Evan Center - Interim Board Member
