Seminar: Sustainable Homes and Gardens

The Sustainable Homes and Gardens Seminar  will equip you with practical strategies to transform your home and garden into a sustainable haven. 

  • Discover how small changes can lead to big savings on your energy bills and increase home comfort
  • Gain expert insights into retrofitting your home or planning your new build for sustainability. 
  • Explore the connection between your garden and food security and now to increase biodiversity in your backyard.

Industry Breakfast: Sustainable Building and Design

Tailored towards industry professionals and those interested in sustainable building, this catered breakfast will feature keynote speaker Brendan Condon, a leading sustainable building specialist. Brendan will share his insights on designing, building and retrofitting homes to be resilient, energy-efficient, comfortable and cost-effective.


When: 8.00 - 10.00am, Thursday 17 October

Where: Deakin University Waterfront Campus, 1-11 Gheringhap Street

Webinar: My Efficient Home with Tim Forcey

Energy efficiency expert and author of his latest book My Efficient Electric Home Handbook, Tim Forcey, will delve into practical strategies for reducing home energy consumption and costs.

Open Houses

The pinnacle of Sustainable House Day Geelong and surrounds is on Saturday 26 October with the Open Day, where attendees can visit eight sustainable homes showcasing the latest cutting-edge technology, energy efficiency, and sustainable design including a brand new, 10-star energy rated home! This is a rare chance to explore homes that exemplify the latest in sustainable living. 

When: 10am - 5pm, Saturday 26 October
Where: Various locations across Greater Geelong, Surf Coast and Queenscliff. 
NB. Home addresses will be released one week before the event.

     

Volunteers Needed for Sustainable House Day!

We are looking for a few extra volunteers to help the Open Day event run smoothly.

The primary role is helping set up/pack down, signing in attendees, assisting attendees and other related duties. All details will be provided.

Electric Homes Program

The Electric Homes Program continues throughout October, with your chance to register your interest and obtain a quote from one of our hand-picked experts closing on 30 October.

Write a Submission Webinar: Viva Energy's Gas Import Terminal

Viva Energy’s polluting gas terminal is back. After being sent back to the drawing board last year, Viva has done new studies and resubmitted a ‘supplementary’ Environment Effects Statement. It’s open for public submissions until 24 October. 

If you spoke out against Viva’s gas terminal plan the first time round, please raise your voice again now. We only have a short window to raise any concerns, and we know from the previous EES that making a written submission can be very powerful.

Good News: TGS Has Withdrawn Their Plans

We are thrilled to share the news that TGS have withdrawn their plans for seismic blasting in the Otway Basin!


Thank you to everyone who got involved from the paddle outs, to the peaceful protests, signing petitions or lobbying your local MP. This shows what coming together and sharing our voice as a community can do. 

Program Coordinator Applications Open

We are seeking a part-time experienced Program Coordinator with the skills and capability to lead the coordination and delivery of our Electric Homes Program. 

The role will be responsible for delivering all aspects of the Geelong and Ballarat programs, which entails professional project planning and coordination, event management, supporting communications and marketing, volunteer coordination, and working with key stakeholders to ensure the intended project outcomes are achieved.
